L.A. in Summertime

-- a nostalgic remembrance of my home town--

Late night love
anticipating a call
Ripple man
pissing into the wall.

Down town society
tenements and whiskey sours
take my sobriety
and give me back my midnight hours

Plain brown haze
delineating the sky.
Gutter-chilled
but I'll be up by and by

LA in summertime
some days you can see the mountains
wrapped up in floating grime
amidst the hydrocarbon fountains

Intellectually
out and passing the time
Triple Sec-xually
with tequila and lime.

Slaves of propriety
three-piece-suits in glass lined towers
Take their sobriety
and give 'em back those midnight

hours.
