A short road lined with souvenir shops leads from the yogurt store where the tourist buses park to the Kiyomizu Temple overlooking Kyoto, where you can drink from any two of the three springs that bring wisdom, luck, and health.  It's not apparent why this music goes with that place, but there it is.

Theme from Tezuka's Metropolis*

*11/03: This music, by Toshiyuki Honda to a lyric by Minako Obata, is employed in a variety of guises and moods in the fascinating if flawed animated film Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis, directed by Rintaro. I've posted this MIDI arrangement since I couldn't find any physical or web source (in English at least) for the sheet music. I am still unhappy with the harmonies I've used in the refrain ['I remember sweet and enchanted days'] but the rest of the chording is about right.

The lyrics only appear in a jazz rendition backed by a lush string arrangement over the credits at the end of the film; the performance is lovely but mostly incomprehensible, and the lyrics (obtained through the offices of my colleague Ms. Muto from animelyrics.com) are awkward to a native English speaker. I have had the temerity to create an alternative lyric, which is presented here along with the original for the interested reader.
